Nikol Pashinyan, Bahgat Dessouki discuss prospects of Armenian-Egyptian relations

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Bahaa El Din Bahgat Dessouki, the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Armenia.

Welcoming the Ambassador, the Premier said Armenia is keen to foster continued development of political, economic and cultural cooperation with Egypt. Hailing the current level of bilateral political relations, Nikol Pashinyan stressed the need to upgrade the economic cooperation to that benchmark. The Head of Government highlighted the role of the Armenian-Egyptian intergovernmental commission and the importance of business forums, which will help boost the bilateral trade turnover.

Bahaa El Din Bahgat Dessouki felicitated Prime Minister Pashinyan on the approval of his government’s program in the National Assembly and expressed confidence that the new government would meet the proposed targets and succeed in implementing an economic revolution.

Noting that he was honored to assume the commitment of strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries, the Ambassador assured of his readiness to exert maximum effort to that end.. He highly valued the role played by the Armenian community in the development of his country and emphasized that his activities would contribute to the strengthening of multilateral ties with Armenia. The Ambassador assured that his active efforts will add momentum to the Armenian-Egyptian economic cooperation and will help implement new joint programs by getting Egyptian businesses involved in Armenia’s economy.

The interlocutors attached importance to reciprocated top-level visits and discussed issues related to the development of cooperation between Armenia and Egypt. The parties discussed ways of activating bilateral and multilateral trade and economic exchanges and contacts in different formats.

Nikol Pashinyan and Bahaa El Din Bahgat Dessouki highlighted the signing of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Egypt.
