Great potential in the field of Armenian-Russian scientific cooperation – PM Pashinyan receives the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, academician Alexander Sergeev.

The Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Sergeev and highlighted the development and expansion of cooperation between Armenia and Russia in the field of science. Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope that during the visit the opportunities of implementing joint projects and initiatives will be discussed, ensuring effective cooperation for the scientific communities of the two countries. According to the Head of the Government, the sphere of science and education is among the priorities of the Armenian Government: Funding for science will increase by 85% in 2022, which is an important indicator for securing the Government's vision in this area.

Alexander Sergeev noted that they are interested in expanding cooperation with Armenian scientists and researchers, adding that discussions on concrete proposals are underway. According to the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, during the Soviet years the cooperation between the Armenian and Russian scientists was at a high level, Armenian scientists have made a significant contribution to the development of the field. Alexander Sergeev highlighted the implementation of joint programs in the direction of new scientific developments, exchange of experience, education and qualification of young specialists.

Prime Minister Pashinyan welcomed the initiatives aimed at expanding the Armenian-Russian ties in the field of science, noting that the Armenian Government will do everything possible to support their successful implementation. According to the Prime Minister, the field of science can become one of the key directions of the Armenian-Russian strategic partnership.
