Performance report 2022 of the Ministry of Economy summarized

Chaired by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the discussion of the performance report 2022 of the Ministry of Economy continued.

Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Tigran Khachatryan, Chief of the Prime Minister's Staff Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, Head of the State Supervision Service Romanos Petrosyan, Deputy Minister of Finance Vahan Sirunyan, officials from the Prime Minister's Office, the leadership of the Ministry, other officials participated in the consultation.

The reports on priority programs of the Ministry of Economy, the progress of sectoral reforms and the already completed measures continued.

It was noted that the concepts of light industry, jewelry, diamond industry, pharmaceutical, chemical industry have been developed, and their strategies will be adopted by the end of the first half of 2023. At the same time, the steps and investment programs aimed at the development of the mentioned branches of the economy were presented.

The officials of the Ministry of Economy reported to the Head of the Government about the progress of the programs aimed at the modernization of economic capacities (currently the portfolio is 42 billion AMD) and attracting the best specialists from abroad to Armenian companies, presented the measures aimed at the promotion of SMEs the development of the capital market. The Prime Minister instructed to focus on ensuring substantive progress and continuous improvement of the state aid toolkit in the economy modernization programs. Nikol Pashinyan also emphasized the implementation of programs for the development of the capacities of the state administration system and the improvement of financial literacy.

The works carried out in the directions of export promotion, development of transport communication infrastructures, diversification of logistics channels, as well as export insurance were presented. The participants exchanged thoughts on further steps. The Prime Minister gave relevant instructions.

As for the measures in the field of agriculture, it was noted that so far 200,000 cattle have been numbered under the cattle numbering program, and the process is expected to be completed in February. Intensive horticulture programs, rural insurance program are successfully being implemented. It is planned to start the process of certification of planting material in 2023. Prime Minister Pashinyan emphasized the importance of the establishment of the seedling certification institute, which will allow to form the appropriate capacity and system. The Head of the Government also referred to the issues related to increasing access to pastures, instructing to inventory the existing problems and present solutions.

Clarifications were presented to the Prime Minister about the recent declines in the fish farming sector, risk management and the steps being taken. Nikol Pashinyan instructed to strictly apply control mechanisms and be consistent in maintaining standards. The processes of cognac production, grape harvesting, and the activities of slaughterhouses were also discussed.

Summarizing the discussion, the Prime Minister instructed to carry out active public awareness campaign about the programs and reforms of the Ministry of Economy.
