Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the President of the International Sambo Federation, Vasily Shestakov, who is in Armenia on the occasion of the Sambo World Championship being held in Yerevan.

The Prime Minister noted that Sambo is very popular in Armenia and the Government is interested in the consistent development of the sport. Nikol Pashinyan expressed belief that the World Championship will be held successfully and will give a new impetus to the further development of the sport.

Vasily Shestakov thanked for the work done and noted that he is impressed by the opening ceremony of the World Championship, adding that the competitions are held at a high level. According to the president of the International Federation, athletes from more than 70 countries have arrived in Armenia. At the same time, Mr. Shestakov thanked the Armenian government for covering the expenses of hosting athletes from a group of African and Asian countries.

Vasily Shestakov awarded Prime Minister Pashinyan with a medal dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the International Sambo Federation. The president of the Sambo Federation of Armenia, Mikayel Hayrapetyan, in his turn, awarded the Prime Minister with a commemorative medal of the World Championship.
