Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a condolence telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the death of Nikita Simonyan
“Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich,
I learned with deep sorrow about the death of the legendary football player, honored coach, honored master of sports and four-time champion of the USSR Nikita Pavlovich Simonyan.
Being an outstanding football player and coach, he wrote his name in golden letters in the history of Armenian and Soviet football. It was under his leadership that Yerevan’s “Ararat” became the champion and two-time USSR Cup winner in 1973 and 1975, giving all Armenians an unforgettable sense of pride.
For his long and eventful career, Nikita Simonyan was also awarded state awards of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation. His achievements, professionalism and dedication to football will serve as a source of inspiration for many generations.
"I ask you, on behalf of the Armenian people and myself, to convey words of condolences and support to the family and loved ones of Nikita Simonyan," reads the message
