I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Raisa Mkrtchyan.

Raisa Mkrtchyan was one of the bright and popular representatives of Armenian pop music, whose distinctive style performances are an important part of the rich heritage of our musical art.

Her fruitful activity symbolizes an entire era. As a distinguished educator, Ms. Mkrtchyan has also made a significant contribution to the education and upbringing of the new generation, passing on her rich experience and knowledge to our young people for many years.

On behalf of the Armenian Government and myself, I express my deepest condolences to Raisa Mkrtchyan's family, relatives, colleagues, as well as to all her fans.
