17.07.2019

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on being elected President of the European Commission. The congratulatory message reads, in part:

“I warmly congratulate you on your being elected as President of the European Commission. I am convinced that your presidency, as the first female president of the European Commission, will be marked by the European Union’s new achievements.

I am pleased to note that Armenia has a rich and comprehensive agenda with the European Union. We attach special importance to the implementation of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which will help us to not only build on our ties, but also to advance the Armenian government’s reform agenda.

Armenia has been and will remain a reliable partner for the European Union. I am convinced that the shared values, as well as the radical changes that led to the triumph of democracy and the rule of law in Armenia, provide a solid groundwork for improving our relations and developing effective cooperation.

I wish you every success and fruitful activity in the highly responsible position of President of the European Commission.”
