Lithuanian President congratulates Nikol Pashinyan on election victory

President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda congratulated Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on his Civil Contract party’s win in the early parliamentary elections, which were recognized by the OSCE as “competitive and well organized.”

The Lithuanian President wished the Acting Prime Minister of Armenia every success, firm resolve and dedication in his responsible position, noting: “Nikol Pashinyan will lead the newly formed government. He has received a mandate from Armenian citizens to lead the country as Prime Minister. Political stability in Armenia is of paramount importance following the last war. We support the Armenian people’s aspiration to live in a peaceful, protected and stable state.”

Gitanas Nausėda stressed the importance of preserving Armenia’s national security and sovereignty, as well as the need to overcome the social divide by mobilizing political forces and society for the sake of national interests. He called for deeper reforms to provide for successful and effective interaction between Armenia and the European Union in implementing the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement.

The Lithuanian President said he would pursue an ambitious Eastern Partnership policy program ahead of the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit, scheduled for this fall.
