German Chancellor Friedrich Merz congratulated Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the 2026 parliamentary elections, stating:

“I congratulate Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Armenian people. Despite enormous pressure, the people of Armenia have clearly chosen democracy and peace.

I look forward to further deepening our bilateral and European cooperation with Armenia.”
