The Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, congratulated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his election victory in Armenia. The message reads:

՛՛Dear Prime Minister Pashinyan,

Please accept my warmest congratulations on your victory at the Republic of Armenia's parliamentary elections last month.

Singapore and Armenia share friendly relations, underpinned by longstanding historical ties. While 2027 will mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations, Armenia's contributions to Singapore started more than a century before that. The oldest church in
Singapore, the Armenian Church of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, was built in Singapore in 1835 and was gazetted as a national monument in 1973 in recognition of the contributions of the small but influential Armenian community to early Singapore. The Armenian Church celebrates its 190th anniversary this year! Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, was also bred by an Armenian, Ms Agnes Joaquim. I also welcome Armenia's opening of an Honorary Consulate in Singapore in May 2025.

This marks another step in the strengthening of our bilateral engagement.

As fellow members of the Forum of Small States, we also share a common interest in upholding international law, promoting free trade, and maintaining a rules-based international order. Given our shared interests, there remains potential to expand our bilateral cooperation in mutually beneficial areas such as trade and people-to-people exchanges.
