UN Secretary-General António Guterres sent a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan on his re-appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. The message reads as follows:

“Excellency,

I wish to extend my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your reappointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, along with my best wishes for a successful term in office.

Armenia is an important partner of the United Nations in achieving our common objectives centred around the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

I am confident that, under your leadership, the Government of Armenia will continue to play a constructive role in strengthening democratic institutions, accelerating climate action, advancing gender equality, human rights and regional peace and security.

I take this opportunity to encourage your Government to redouble efforts regarding the political participation of women, including in seeking gender parity in Cabinet and senior appointments.
