Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's official visit to the State of Qatar

The governmental delegation headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan arrived in the State of Qatar on June 13 on a two-day official visit.

The Prime Minister was met at the Doha International Airport by the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

The Prime Minister will have meetings with the top leadership of the State of Qatar.

The meetings will focus on the further development and strengthening of relations between the two countries in various fields.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on an official visit in the State of Qatar, met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Welcoming Prime Minister Pashinyan, the Emir of Qatar praised the good-neighborly relations and mutual trust between Armenia and Qatar, emphasizing that Qatar is interested in developing and strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Nikol Pashinyan thanked for the warm reception and expressed confidence that this visit will give a new impetus to the cooperation between Armenia and Qatar, including in the economy and humanitarian spheres.

The Prime Minister of Armenia and the Emir of Qatar stressed the great potential of cooperation between the two friendly countries, the mutual readiness to expand and strengthen relations.

The parties attached importance to the development of relations especially in the spheres of economy, information technologies, science, air communication, tourism, culture.

Nikol Pashinyan referred to the business environment in our country, noting that within the framework of its tools the Armenian Government is ready to support the implementation of possible investment programs by Qatari companies.

The interlocutors expressed confidence that the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the meetings envisaged by the agenda will contribute to the expansion and deepening of ties in the spheres of investments and trade.

The Prime Minister of Armenia invited the Emir of Qatar to pay an official visit to Armenia, which was gladly accepted.

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Doha on an official visit, met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the State of Qatar Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani.

First, the official welcoming ceremony took place, during which the state anthems of the Republic of Armenia and State of Qatar were performed, and then the Heads of the Governments of the two countries greeted the members of the delegations.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister of the State of Qatar attached importance to the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, stressed the need for multifaceted cooperation between the two friendly countries. Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Thani expressed confidence that the cooperation between the Governments of Armenia and Qatar will reach a new level as a result of this visit. In his turn, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the political dialogue between Armenia and Qatar is at a high level, and it is necessary to give a new impetus to the development and expansion of bilateral economic ties. The Prime Minister attached imortance to the development and deepening of business ties and invited the representatives of Qatar’s business community to Armenia to discuss opportunities and prospects for joint investment projects with Armenian partners.

Nikol Pashinyan and Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of cooperation in the fields of economy, in particular, information technologies, agriculture, transport infrastructure, trade, air communication, tourism. The sides also discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the field of education, including student exchange, science, as well as healthcare and culture. The broad potential for developing ties in all of the above areas was highlighted, for the implementation of which the Prime Ministers of the two countries gave specific instructions to the heads of the relevant government departments.

Based on the result of the meeting, a number of documents were signed between the two countries in the presence of the Prime Ministers of Armenia and Qatar. In particular, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Hambardzum Matevosyan and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani signed a Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between the foreign ministries of Armenia and Qatar, as well as Memorandum of Understanding on exchange of news between ARMENPRESS news agency and Qatar News Agency.

Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan and the Minister of Municipal Affairs of Qatar Abdulla bin Abdulaziz Al Subaie signed an agreement on the declaration of Yerevan and Doha as sister cities.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia Vahram Dumanyan and Minister of Education and Higher Education of Qatar Buthaina bint Ali Al-Nuaimi signed an agreement on cooperation between Armenia and Qatar in the field of education, higher education and scientific research.

The Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Anahit Avanesyan and the Minister of Public Health of Qatar Mrs. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of healthcare between the Republic of Armenia and the State of Qatar.

YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and President of the University of Qatar Hassan Bin Rashid Al-Derham signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities.

Today, Prime Minister Pashinyan will also meet with the CEO of Qatar Investment Agency Mansoor Al-Mahmoud.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Qatar Foundation in Doha. The Head of the Government was introduced to the activities of the Foundation, in particular, the programs implemented in the field of education. The leaders of the Foundation also answered the questions of the members of the Armenian governmental delegation. Opportunities for cooperation with Armenia in the field of education were touched upon.

Prime Minister Pashinyan also visited the Qatar Science and Technology Park. During the visit, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the latter's activities in the field of high technologies.

The Prime Minister made a note in the book of honored guests.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is in Doha on an official visit, received Mansoor Al-Mahmoud, CEO of the Qatar Investment Authority in his residence.

Issues related to the cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia the Investment Authority were discussed during the meeting. In particular, the sides touched upon the opportunities of implementing joint programs in the fields of water resources management, agriculture, energy and high technologies. Prime Minister Pashinyan spoke about the priorities of the Armenian Government in these directions and the promising projects, for the implementation of which it is possible to establish close cooperation.

Mansoօr Al-Mahmoud thanked for the reception and noted that the agency headed by him is ready to establish effective cooperation with the Armenian side.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on an official visit in the State of Qatar, received Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed issues related to the further development and strengthening of relations between Armenia and Qatar in the field of foreign policy.

Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the role of Qatar in the Arab world, stressed the interest of the Armenian government in expanding and deepening bilateral relations in various spheres.

Issues related to the processes taking place in the South Caucasus region were touched upon during the meeting.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on an official visit in the State of Qatar, received the members of the Qatar Businessmen Association headed by the First Deputy to the Chairman of the Association Hussain Ibrahim Alfardan at his residence.

Issues related to the opportunities for implementation of investment programs in different spheres in Armenia were discussed at the meeting. Nikol Pashinyan stressed the readiness of the Armenian government to promote the effective implementation of possible programs within the limits of its tools.

The members of the Businessmen Association noted that they are ready to discuss and consider the proposals to operate in Armenia in different directions.
In this context, the opportunities for implementing investment projects in the fields of agriculture, jewelry, tourism, energy and high technologies were touched upon.

An agreement was reached to submit specific project plans to the Qatar Businessmen Association in the near future.

Within the framework of his official visit to the State of Qatar, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan met in Doha with Father Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Prime Minister Pashinyan presented the Order of Friendship of the Republic of Armenia to Father Emir of Qatar Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, which was awarded to him for his significant services in strengthening and developing political, economic, scientific-educational cooperation, cultural-religious mutual understanding, as well as friendly ties between the two peoples.

Father Emir thanked for the award and stressed that he will continue to make greater efforts to contribute to the further development of relations between the two countries and peoples.

Prime Minister Pashinyan and Father Emir referred to the prospects for the development of relations between the two countries. The sides attached importance to the preservation of intensive ties, in order to make the Armenian-Qatari cooperation more multifaceted.

Other issues of regional and international significance were also discussed.

The governmental delegation headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Qatar National Library in Doha, where temporary exhibition entitled "Arabic messages from Armenia. Heritage for Cultural Dialogue" has been opened.

The Prime Minister was welcomed at the Library by the President of the Library, Minister of State Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari. Accompanied by the latter, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the exhibits presented at the exhibition, then toured the library and made a note in the Honorary Guest Book.

The exhibition presents 9 duplicate samples from the numismatic and archeological collections of the History Museum of Armenia, which present silver and copper dirhams issued in "Dvin", "Armenia", "Haroonabad" and "Aleppo" mints. Gold dinar issued in 752, copper felts issued at the “Barda” mint, as well as samples of a bronze double-headed ax dating back to the 18th century with floral ornaments and animal images.

The exhibition posters will present cultural values and historical facts related to the long-standing Armenian-Arab relations.

Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the exhibits are another evidence of centuries-old Armenian-Arab friendly ties, which will be of great interest to both locals and tourists visiting here.

The exhibition will run for a week at Qatar National Library.

Prime Minister Pashinyan also visited the National Museum of Qatar.
