Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with RA President Armen Sarkissian. Discussed were issues related to Armenia’s internal political situation and the ongoing developments, including the holding of preterm parliamentary elections.

President Armen Sarkissian: “We had agreed during our telephone conversations, as well as at our Paris meeting that we should meet. I have already met with Mr. Babloyan and would like to discuss the inner-political situation.”

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan: “In fact, it is crucial for us to discuss the situation with the President of the Republic. As a matter of fact, the past few days’ developments give me good reason to state that the situation seems to be going toward a resolution. In particular, yesterday we signed a memorandum with Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan on holding snap parliamentary elections this December. Sixteen other MPs have supported this initiative in writing. I think that in essence, the tension is easing, which is positive.”

President Armen Sarkissian: “Me too, I am very happy that in principle, the process proceeds in an atmosphere of dialogue and tolerance. I am glad to hear that some results have been achieved over the past couple of days through negotiations, dialogue, and that the settlement is eventually not far off. We badly need a resolution.”
