PM receives U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs

 Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs George Kent.

Welcoming the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State to Armenia, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that his visit was a good opportunity to discuss bilateral agenda and opportunities for cooperation.

George Kent said he was glad to visit Armenia during a period of transformations in our country. He stressed that the United States is interested in the further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation with Armenia.

Touching upon the political processes underway in our country, Prime Minister Pashinyan said Armenia is consistently moving forth along the path of democratic development, which is not a foreign policy orientation for our society, but rather a matter of belief and values. The head of the Armenian government spoke about the ongoing efforts to fight corruption and implement fundamental reforms.

The U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State noted that the U.S. government is interested in Armenia’s final success in developing democracy, achieving economic progress, and implementing other priorities and is ready to assist Armenia’s government in the process of reform.

The parties exchanged views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the current international situation, the emerging regional challenges and other issues of topical interest.
