Nikol Pashinyan receives Yelk faction members

16.10.2018

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received a delegation of National Assembly’s Yelk faction members, which comprised faction leader Lena Nazaryan, MPs Aram Sargsyan, Sasun Mikayelyan and Hayk Konjoryan.

Greeting the guests, Nikol Pashinyan stated, in part, “Dear colleagues, I am glad to see you at this important stage to discuss the situation we have today and the new phase we are embarking on. Before that, I would like to say that I highly appreciate the path we have gone together.

In this transitional period, we have to come to certain agreements so that we can move forward with effective and steadfast steps and reach the milestone of snap parliamentary elections. Yelk faction will have to play an active role over the next 14 days in order to provide for some legal procedures.

Most probably, I will be nominated as prime minister, at least in the first round of these 14 days, so that the process proves fully compliant with the letter and spirit of the law, indeed on the presumption that I am not elected. And I would also like to discuss this issue, make arrangements in advance and, of course, review the current political situation.

While we have been in close touch all these days, including the crisis time, but the opportunity to discuss things once again is always welcome, and I would like to thank you for responding to my invitation.”

For his part, Aram Sargsyan noted: “We, too, are grateful for joint work. Just as we used to work together with due diligence and dedication as head and members of Yelk Alliance, in the same way we will continue to work regardless of political developments. In this regard, we will definitely back any accurate legal solution. Any acceptable to the Prime Minister approach as proposed by lawyers will be supported by our team.”
