Nikol Pashinyan receives Head of IMF Armenia Mission

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today received Head of IMF Armenia Mission Hossein Samiei.

Stressing the importance of the ongoing effective cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the Prime Minister appreciated the Fund’s continued support for economic reforms. Nikol Pashinyan noted that his government’s priorities cover a wide range of different areas, including the fight against corruption, taxation, judiciary and public administration.

The Head of Government said that the reforms are aimed at simplifying tax policy, improving the business environment, promoting investment and enhancing the independence of the judiciary. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the Government’s ultimate goal is to bring about structural changes in the economy.

The Head of IMF Armenia Mission expressed confidence that joint efforts would contribute to the reforms underway in Armenia’s economy. Hailing the steps taken by the Government, Hossein Samiei assured of IMF’s commitment to continued support for the reform process by means of new effective programs.

The interlocutors exchanged views on a number of other issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation.
