RA Prime Minister, German Constitutional Court President discuss prospects of cooperation in legal matters

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received President of the Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany Andreas Voßkuhle.

The Prime Minister noted that the Armenian-German relations have recently intensified, as evidenced by the frequently reciprocated high-level visits and meetings. Nikol Pashinyan stressed the importance of yesterday’s ratification by the German Bundestag of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Armenia, noting that this would propel the ratification process in other EU-member States.

Referring to the Armenian-German cooperation in the legal field, Nikol Pashinyan noted that radical political changes have taken place in Armenia, aimed at establishing the rule of law and the institutional strengthening of democracy. In this context, the Premier highlighted the ongoing judicial reform, as well as the exchange of international experiences, including the German know-how.

President of FRG Constitutional Court Andreas Voßkuhle said they have followed the transformations underway in Armenia and are ready to support our country on the path of democratic development. In this context, he highlighted the role of constitutional courts in terms of successful implementation of the judicial reform.

As they discussed issues related to the strengthening of bilateral legal cooperation, the parties reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperating effectively in this area. The interlocutors exchanged views on parliamentary system activities.
