PM attends inauguration of European Center of Nuclear Medicine in Yerevan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today attended the inauguration of the European Center of Nuclear Medicine, a state-of-the-art medical facility operational at Erebuni medical center in Yerevan

The Center will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid gland diseases, including malignant tumors. The treatment will be carried out with radioactive iodine in specially equipped wards in accordance with European standards.

The new center has 4 isolated wards. 6 patients can be simultaneously treated in the center.

Accompanied by the Center’s senior executives, the Premier toured the premises getting acquainted with the conditions and the equipment installed.

The center will run modern equipment, including a gamma camera (SPECT), manufactured by German Siemens company, which is the latest diagnostic device used in nuclear medicine worldwide. It allows detecting not only thyroid gland tumors, but also other cancers, as well as cardiovascular and bone problems. The examinations will be implemented with the use of radioactive isotopes. Specialized nuclear physicists will work together with doctors.

The center will be supervised by radiologist Natalia Shengeliya-de Lange.
