Nikol Pashinyan congratulates Angela Merkel on National Day

03.10.2020

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Germany’s National Day.

“I cordially congratulate you and the friendly people of Germany on your country’s National Day. Thirty years ago, on October 3, Germany’s reunification came as a historic milestone not only for your country, but also for global history and politics. This landmark event ushered in an era of drastic development and strengthening for reunited Germany, its increasingly weighty role in the international arena, and overall progress for the friendly German people.

I am pleased to note that despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Armenian-German relations are developing dynamically in the political, economic, inter-parliamentary, scientific-educational, cultural, and decentralized spheres, based on both mutual interest and shared values. This is evidenced by the recently intensified bilateral political dialogue, reciprocated high-level visits, enhanced inter-parliamentary decentralized contacts, as well as by Germany’s strong support for the EU-Armenia cooperation agenda.

Germany is also a strong supporter of the ongoing large-scale reforms in Armenia, which seek to ensure good governance, curb corruption, build a fully functional independent judiciary and promote free economic competition.

Armenia is making its way along the challenging, but at the same time crucial path of development and democratization. We prioritize our partners’ support on this way. Germany is a reliable partner for us in this matter, a strong supporter of democratic reforms.

Reiterating my congratulations, I wish you every success and ever new achievements,” the Armenian Prime Minister’s message reads.
