Nikol Pashinyan congratulates Swiss Confederation President on National Day

01.08.2021

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan sent a congratulatory message to President Guy Parmelin of the Swiss Confederation on the occasion of National Day. The congratulatory message reads, in part:

“Excellency,

I cordially congratulate you and the friendly people of Switzerland on the occasion of Swiss National Day.

I highly appreciate that fact that the mutually beneficial interstate relations between Armenia and Switzerland are developing year after year. I am confident that the multifaceted interaction between Armenia and Switzerland and the great untapped potential available in our relations will help us further develop and expand cooperation for the benefit of our two nations.

I would especially like to note that our two peoples are traditionally bound by mutual respect and trust, based on common humanitarian and democratic values. The vibrant Armenian community of Switzerland plays an important role in strengthening the deep-rooted friendship between our two countries and peoples.

Taking this opportunity, I wish to emphasize that Armenia highly values the principled position expressed by Switzerland during the large-scale military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh last year in favor of immediate cessation of hostilities, peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ auspices and unconditional respect of international humanitarian law. The assistance provided by Switzerland to the conflict-affected population testifies to your country’s strict adherence to humanitarian principles.

I wish you robust health and every success, as well as peace and prosperity – to the friendly people of Switzerland.”
