Education, infrastructure, management. PM Pashinyan discusses the priorities of the partnership with the WB Vice President

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde and the delegation led by her.

The Prime Minister praised the cooperation with the World Bank, within the framework of which programs aimed at the development of various spheres have been and are being implemented in our country. Nikol Pashinyan noted that reforms in the spheres of education, infrastructures, management are the priorities outlined by the Government’s Action Plan, and considering the successful experience of joint work, the Government attaches importance to the deepening of cooperation with the WB in these, as well as other mutually beneficial directions.

The WB Vice President expressed satisfaction with the partnership with the Government of the Republic of Armenia and congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the appointment to the post of Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia for the second time. Anna Bjerde emphasized that the Bank considers the Action Plan of the Government of the Republic of Armenia as a target program to meet the challenges, and is ready to continue supporting the Government of the Republic of Armenia in implementing the outlined reforms.

The interlocutors discussed the prospects of partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the World Bank. The prospects for development of cooperation in the fields of education, infrastructure, digitalization, healthcare, renewable energy and other areas were touched upon. Public administration reforms, programs aimed at the development of institutional capacity and human capital were highlighted.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation in raising public awareness about the coronavirus vaccination and promoting the process. Nikol Pashinyan praised the WB support to Armenia in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government is committed to the consistent implementation of the reform agenda, and thanked the World Bank and the Armenian office of the organization for their readiness to continue effective cooperation.
