On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Police Troops, Prime Minister Pashinyan planted a fir tree, after which those present observed a minute of silence in honor of all the representatives of the Police Troops killed for the sake of the Homeland.

The Prime Minister got acquainted with the technical means of the Police Troops, congratulated in his speech at the solemn event those present on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Police Troops.

"The Police Troops, in fact, were formed as the first regular subdivision of the Armed Forces of Armenia. During this period, the police officers contributed to the security of the Homeland and the protection of the borders. I once again bow my head in memory of the martyred police officers who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland, their families, relatives, children and parents. We must state that our greatest duty to our martyrs is to preserve, protect, develop the security of the Republic of Armenia and to pass on to the next generations.

I would like to emphasize the function of the Police Troops in preserving the rule of law and public safety. When I was still an opposition MP, I especially emphasize this, when there was a crisis situation directly related to the Police, I stated from the rostrum that the Police is the backbone of any state, including the Republic of Armenia. And I must state that the Police Troops, to be more precise, is the backbone of the Police. I am very glad to state that our Police in general, and the Police Troops in particular, consistently show their resilience and determination, and their devotion to the rule of law, the Constitution and the people of the Republic of Armenia. This is a service worth appreciation, as ensuring public safety and stability is no less important than protecting external borders. However, as it was mentioned, the Police Troops also have had their contribution to this function," Prime Minister Pashinyan said.

The Prime Minister thanked all the servicemen for their service, dedication, determination and perseverance.

"I want to thank the family members of all of you; one can imagine their feelings every time you go to service. But I am convinced that they have no doubt that you will serve the Motherland, the state, the people with honor, dignity and devotion. That service is commendable.

We are now at a critical juncture in which the Police, as well as the Police Troops, have to go through a long reform path. But one of the cornerstones of these reforms must be the issue of social guarantees for police officers, because we all believe that the people who carry out such valuable service, their families, should be ensured with a certain system of reliable social guarantees. Moreover, this policy applies to all directions. Today is the Day of the Police Troops, we are talking about the Police, but the same applies to our legal system, all security services. We will consistently pursue this path.

In general, the function performed by the law enforcement forces, the significance of this function can not be overestimated, because it is your function to protect the country, the people from illegal encroachments. I must state that the Police Troops, the Police in general, have performed this function at a high level and accurately.

Dear servicemen of the Police Troops, I once again congratulate all of you on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Police Troops of the Republic of Armenia, thank you for your devoted service," the Prime Minister concluded.
