Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation led by Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mehrdad Bazrpash.

The Prime Minister welcomed the productive visit of the Iranian delegation to Armenia, within the framework of which the contract for the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South highway was signed. Nikol Pashinyan noted that it will be one of the largest projects implemented between the two countries so far. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the volumes of bilateral projects will be continuously expanded. In particular, Nikol Pashinyan added that the Armenian government is implementing major capital projects and the Armenian side is interested in cooperation with Iranian companies for their implementation.

Mehrdad Bazrpash noted that the construction of the Kajaran-Agarak road section will be carried out by one of the large Iranian companies and expressed confidence that the project will be implemented with quality and on time. According to the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, other Iranian companies are also ready to be involved in infrastructure development projects in Armenia. At the same time, he noted that the Iranian side, for its part, is interested in the involvement of Armenian companies in large-scale housing construction projects in the country. Mehrdad Bazrpash expressed belief that the construction of the North-South transit highway will contribute to the expansion of regional freight volumes and the development of economic ties.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged ideas on the possibilities of unblocking regional infrastructure under the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction and reciprocity.
