Prime Minister Pashinyan remotely chairs the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council remotely
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan remotely chaired the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which is being held in Saint Petersburg.
At the narrow-format meeting, Prime Minister Pashinyan welcomed the participants of the meeting and noted that the term of the presidency of the Republic of Armenia in the bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union is coming to an end. “The main priorities of our presidency, as is known, included key areas of economic cooperation: the creation of common markets in the energy sector, the elimination of barriers in the internal market of the EAEU, the development of transport and logistics infrastructure, and the strengthening of international relations.
Among the priorities were also the development of cooperative potential and digital technologies, as well as the consolidation of the efforts of IT communities in the direction of introducing innovative solutions in the agricultural sector,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the Prime Minister, the EEC Action Plan for the implementation of the priorities of the Armenian presidency in the EAEU bodies was comprehensive and reflected the directions outlined in its January address. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the details will be discussed by the Commission when summing up the implementation of the program.
“Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to the members of the Council for their support in the practical implementation of the initiatives of the Armenian presidency, as well as to thank the Commission, headed by the Chairman of the Board, Bakytzhan Abdiri Sagintayev, for the work done,” said the Prime Minister.
Next, an expanded session was held, during which the protocols of the adopted decisions were signed.
Referring to the proposal to hold the next session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, in May 2025, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the Armenian delegation will not travel to Belarus and will participate in the session remotely.
“We are not against holding the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Minsk, but I would like to say in advance that our delegation will participate in that session via videoconference,” the Prime Minister noted, adding that the statements he made regarding his visits to Belarus remain in force. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that the decision of the Armenian delegation to participate in the next session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council via videoconference is not subject to discussion.
