Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the reconstructed Blood Bank center of the Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center. Accompanied by Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, the Prime Minister toured the center to get acquainted with the created conditions, the organization of services, and development programs.
The center is a unique specialized medical institution in Armenia. It includes the main blood bank of the Republic of Armenia, which plays a reference role for other blood banks.
It was noted that the reconstruction, expansion, and re-equipment of the Blood Bank aims to improve the necessary medical care and service conditions for people living in the republic and in need of blood transfusions. It allows accepting a larger number of donors. It was also noted that in 2023 regional blood stations have joined the center and a unified blood service has been created, the goal of which is to create a common quality of blood components and facilitate the movement of blood components between stations.
According to those responsible, the movement of blood donors is now managed through the electronic "Armed" system. The introduction of a system for managing and monitoring the movement of blood components is planned for this year. It is also planned to create reserves of blood components in all medical institutions where blood transfusions are carried out. As a result of this initiative, relatives of patients will be relieved of worries related to blood transportation, which will significantly improve the organization and efficiency of the process.
The "Blood Bank" center was created in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the "Jinishian" Memorial Foundation.
