Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Vahagn Khachaturyan participated in a business workshop on “Enhancing Armenia’s Economic Competitiveness through Improving Policies and Administration” in Dilijan.
The workshop in the format government-business community format was organized at the initiative of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with the aim of identifying problems in economic activity and the investment environment through broad, open and effective discussions, identifying new development opportunities, increasing governance efficiency, and clarifying reform priorities for joint decision-making.
In his welcoming speech, Prime Minister Pashinyan thanked the representatives of the business community, experts and officials representing various sectors of the economy for their participation and active involvement in the workshop. In his speech, the Prime Minister touched upon the priorities of Armenia’s economic development and current challenges in detail, emphasizing the importance of continuous, constructive and effective dialogue between the executive branch and the private sector. According to the Prime Minister, such large-scale events are important for forming common understandings of how the Government and the private sector can most effectively serve the Republic of Armenia, ensuring sustainable economic growth. “Economic development and the results arising from it are what should give us the opportunity or limit our opportunities to set and solve long-term problems. And in this regard, of course, I have a very specific expectation from this workshop, it is also important to understand what kind of atmosphere prevails in the business environment and what problems there are, how close we are to solving them, etc.,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of forming an agenda for upcoming economic activities based on the results of the workshop, with the logic of working together on it. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan emphasized the importance of developing a common economic roadmap aimed at serving the state interest, as well as the need to form a certain consent and a common understanding around it.
“I would like to thank you again for your willingness to participate in the discussion and express hope that the discussion will take place with this very logic. We will come out of this discussion with much more concrete ideas about our upcoming activities and will understand to what extent and how the Government’s programs are perceived by the business community, and, of course, charged with the energy of implementing that agenda and roadmap as effectively as possible,” the Prime Minister noted.
The Prime Minister’s speech was followed by panel discussions on the topics of “Macroeconomic, investment and educational policies as pillars of economic competitiveness”, “Effective administration as a determining factor of the economic environment”, and “Prospects of government-business community dialogue”. During the discussions, the problems in the sector and the economic opportunities for their solution were discussed.
During the workshop, the importance of increasing the effectiveness of the reforms being implemented, the need to improve the administration of the State Revenue Committee, as well as ensuring the inclusiveness of decisions made by the executive branch were discussed.
In conclusion, Nikol Pashinyan presented the ideology of “Real Armenia”.
