On the second day of his visit to Lori region, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited Akhtala to get acquainted with the bridge restoration works.
As a result of the floods that occurred last year, individual elements of the automobile bridge were partially or completely destroyed and were unfit for operation. Instead, a new temporary 2nd bridge with steel trusses connecting M-6 with Akhtala was built. The budget for the construction of the temporary bridge is 53 million drams. The 2nd steel bridge is also intended to solve the issue of traffic with freight vehicles, which will have the ability to pass vehicles with a maximum carrying capacity of 40 tons.
Next, the Prime Minister was presented with the works carried out to restore the bridge in the Karkop settlement. A temporary metal bridge was installed with the donation of the Greek government. As a result of repeated floods, individual elements of the automobile bridge were partially or completely destroyed and were not suitable for further operation.
The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan and the Governor of Tavush Hayk Ghalumyan, also visited the Ghalinjakar Fortress in the Berdavan settlement of Tavush region.
