The Prime Minister watched the final match of the “Schoolboy Basketball League”

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan watched the final match of the “Schoolboy Basketball League” 2025 at the basketball gym of the Yerevan Sports Management Center.

The tournament aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, develop interest in basketball among schoolchildren, as well as identify talented and promising sportsmen.

The Prime Minister congratulated everyone on the occasion of the tournament and expressed hope that it will definitely continue in the coming years. Nikol Pashinyan expressed confidence that everyone will take the enthusiasm, energy, unity and teamwork that the games brought with them to their homes and workplaces. “This is exactly the goal of this tournament. First, to give our students the opportunity to express themselves, second, to strengthen the team spirit in us and understand that those teams, those groups that work the most on themselves, who believe the most in victory, who are the most determined and who act as a team on the playgrounds, win," the Prime Minister said, thanking the tournament organizers, participants, and fans and wishing success to the school basketball league.

The tournament was held on June 16-22 under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. Two age groups participated in the tournament: 10-12 years old (grades 5-6) and 13-15 years old (grades 7-9), each of which reached the final stage with 16 strongest teams. In the final stage of the 2025 “Schoolboy Basketball League”, the team of Yerevan School No. 51 took 1st place in the 13-15 year old tournament, the team of Yerevan School No. 2 took 2nd place, and the team of Yerevan School No. 137 took 3rd place.

The team of Yerevan School No. 174 won the tournament in the 10-12 years old group. The second place was taken by Artik School No. 1, and the third place was taken by the team of Yeghvard Secondary School.

The winning schools and their representatives were awarded valuable cash prizes. The awards were presented by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.

The school that took 1st place received 4,000,000 drams, 2nd place received 2,500,000 drams, and 3rd place received 1,500,000 drams. The schools' physical education teachers also received awards: 1st place received 700,000 drams, 2nd place received 500,000 drams, and 3rd place received 300,000 drams. Each of the 9 students in the teams was awarded in turn: 1st place received 150,000 drams, 2nd place received 100,000 drams, and 3rd place received 75,000 drams.
