Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the final round of the “Prime Minister’s Cup” school cross country running competition in the Parz Lake area of Dilijan, Tavush region.
The best teams of the republic’s schools, who were recognized as winners in the regional and community rounds, participated in the final round of the tournament, which was held for the fourth time. 11 teams, each consisting of 7 students (5 boys, 2 girls), participated in the tournament, overcoming the 5000-meter competition area.
The 1st place in the final round of the cross country running was taken by the Hunan Avetisyan High School No. 9 in Kapan, Syunik region, the 2nd place was taken by the Areni Secondary School in Vayots Dzor region, and the 3rd place was taken by the Urtsadzor Secondary School in Ararat region. The teams and participants of the schools that took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places were awarded with certificates, cups, medals and monetary awards of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the corresponding category. In particular, the school that took the first place received 4 million drams, the second place - 2 million 500 thousand drams, the third place - 1 million 500 thousand drams. The physical education teacher of the first place team received 700 thousand drams, and each of the 7 students included in the team received 150 thousand drams, the second and third places, respectively, 500 thousand drams teacher, 100 thousand drams for students, 300 thousand drams for the teacher and 75 thousand drams for students.
The winning teams were awarded by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan.
In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan congratulated those present on the occasion of the tournament and noted with satisfaction that the number of schools and students participating in the tournament is growing every year. The Prime Minister presented the upcoming programs, in particular, that starting this year, it is planned to hold the swimming tournament among schoolchildren, in swimming pools. The Prime Minister also announced that it is planned to hold a schoolchildren's festival of author's songs. “We want the school to continue to be the center of life for communities, children, and teachers outside of the classroom process. The school is truly the focus of our lives, especially since what we are talking about now, we understand that the solution to all issues is through education. Even in the field of public health, many problems are related to our lifestyle, where we do not want to reduce anything, but we want to have more movement, sports, and physical education in our lifestyle, so that we can enjoy life longer and with more pleasure.”
Nikol Pashinyan thanked everyone for organizing and holding the tournament and emphasized the importance and necessity of ensuring the continuity of these best traditions.
