Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the Hrazdan community of Kotayk region, where the Solid Waste Management Program for Kotayk and Gegharkunik regions was launched.
The program, worth 14.8 million euros, was implemented in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Within the framework of the program, construction works on a new sanitary landfill in Hrazdan community and waste transfer stations in Martuni and Akunq settlements were carried out.
At the same time, in order to introduce an integrated waste collection system in accordance with EU standards in all settlements of the two regions, waste collection schemes for all settlements of the two regions were developed and optimal waste collection routes were drawn up. The necessary machinery and equipment were purchased based on the schemes.
The "Kotayk and Gegharkunik Solid Household Waste Management Company" LLC was established and registered by the communities of the two regions to provide waste collection services and operate landfills and transfer stations.
