Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the new building of the Valery Sargsyan Music School in Sevan Community, Gegharkunik Region.
More than 344 million drams were spent on the construction of the two-story music school. The building construction program was implemented by the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, and the musical instruments and other technical equipment were provided by the Government. In total, the school can accommodate about 230 students. It is equipped with modern water supply, sewage, heating, fire protection, ventilation, gas supply, and electricity supply systems. Fencing, area improvement, and landscaping works were also carried out.
In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan thanked the donor families, their representatives, the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund and the fund’s French office. According to the Prime Minister, the school construction program is a typical example of cooperation between the Government and the Diaspora. The Prime Minister also emphasized that thanks to the Government’s certification program, the salaries of a number of music school teachers have increased significantly. “I think the times when we used to say that strategies in the education sector are very important for us are over, because now we say that education is our strategy. In other words, there is no sector in which education is not at the forefront of our ideas for reforms and development,” said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that everyone, from a child attending kindergarten to the Prime Minister, should consider education and getting educated a priority, because it is the most reliable and only way to ensure development.
In this context, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Government's message to children about why education, capital investments in the education sector, and creating proper conditions for education are important: "And our message to all students in all our schools is very clear: study well so that you can live well. If you, children, live well through education, your family will also live well, and with your family, your community, with your community, your region, and with your region, your state."
Nikol Pashinyan noted that this is what the “300 Schools, 500 Kindergartens” program is aimed at, around which the Government’s strategic ideas have been focused.
The Prime Minister emphasized that these newly constructed buildings should not serve only for the implementation of school programs, but should also serve other functions of art and music education. Nikol Pashinyan noted that the Government will continue the program of building new music, art, and sports schools in places where there will be an objective need for this infrastructure in order to create the opportunity to provide proper education. “We will have a high school of arts in the Academic city, which, in our opinion, will become an accelerator for developing the talent of the most talented children in music, literature, and other areas of art,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
Summing up his speech, the Prime Minister once again emphasized the need to provide all newly constructed educational institutions with new property.
