The Prime Minister attends groundbreaking ceremony of A. Azaryan Sports School

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Albert Azaryan Sports School in Yerevan. The sports school is being built next to the Hrazdan Stadium.

The event was also attended by the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, President of the Armenian Gymnastics Federation Gagik Vanoyan, Director of the A. Azaryan Sports School Pavel Kartashyan, and athletes.

The Government has allocated 6.9 billion drams for the construction of the sports school. The budget includes the design of the new sports school, construction works, author's and technical supervision, sports equipment, interior decoration and infrastructure. The sports school will have a gym for special sports (rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics), a universal gym with a stand for 532 spectators, changing rooms and bathrooms, administrative and service areas, a parking lot for 88 cars, a technical area, property storage and a workshop, a heating and ventilation system with settings for individual rooms.

It is planned to complete the construction of the sports school in November 2026.

The new sports school will become a modern center for training about 300 young athletes with conditions meeting international standards. The complex will also be able to host international competitions, strengthening Armenia’s position and reputation in the world of gymnastics and sports. The new complex will also host the European Gymnastics Championships, which will be held in Armenia for the first time in 2027.
