The Prime Minister attends the final round of the “Prime Minister’s Cup” amateur road cycling tournament

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the final round of the “Prime Minister’s Cup” amateur road cycling tournament, which was held in the Gegharkunik region, on a 40-kilometer section of the road from the Sevan Peninsula to the Shoghakat settlement. Nikol Pashinyan also participated in the cycling tournament, accompanying the tournament participants on bicycles.

The tournament was held in 3 stages. In the community stage, schoolchildren covered a 25-kilometer distance, and in the regional stage, 30 kilometers. The final stage was attended by teams of schools or colleges that took first place in the regional stage, consisting of only 6 students from each region, 2 physical education teachers, and 1 representative from each region. This year, 4,214 students from 940 schools participated in the preliminary stages of the tournament. The tournament is held in 2 age groups: students in grades 7-9 and 10-12 of general education institutions of the Republic of Armenia. 1st age group: students in grades 7-9 (team composition: 1 boy, 1 girl and 1 physical education teacher), 2nd age group: students in grades 10-12 (team composition: 2 boys, 2 girls and 1 physical education teacher).

After the final round, the award ceremony took place. The awards were presented by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan. In the competition for grades 7-9, the first place went to the Mesrop Mashtots Primary School in Sevan, Gegharkunik region, the second place went to the Akunk Secondary School in Kotayk region, and the third place went to the Sev Kar Secondary School in Tavush region. In the competition for grades 10-12, the first place went to the Akunk Secondary School in Kotayk region, the second place went to the No. 5 High School in Vanadzor, Lori region, and the third place went to the Pemzashen Secondary School in Shirak region.

The teams of the schools that took the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places and their participants were awarded with certificates of the corresponding category from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, cups, medals, and cash prizes. The school that took 1st place was awarded 4,000,000 drams, 2nd place was awarded 2,500,000 drams, and 3rd place was awarded 1,500,000 drams. The school's physical education teachers were also awarded: 1st place was awarded 700,000 drams, 2nd place was awarded 500,000 drams, and 3rd place was awarded 300,000 drams. The students of the winning cycling teams were also awarded cash prizes: 1st place: 2 participants: 150,000 drams each, 2nd place: 2 participants: 100,000 drams each, and 3rd place: 2 participants: 75,000 drams each.

Following the award ceremony, the Prime Minister made a speech, congratulated everyone on holding the cycling tournament, emphasized that the tournament has been held for the second year and happily noted that the bicycles purchased for all schools serve their purpose. According to Nikol Pashinyan, the ultimate goal is to instill a healthy lifestyle among schoolchildren and in general, a caring attitude towards nature, in general, a caring attitude towards every square meter of our country, our state, our homeland.

In his speech, the Prime Minister also touched upon the repaired roads, emphasized that the road around Sevan has been repaired and overhauled over the years, noting that, of course, there are still problems to be solved, but in general, the infrastructure of Sevan is essentially ready to receive tourist flows. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan also touched upon environmental issues, noting that in parallel with the activation of tourism, one must also be careful so that this activity does not harm nature.

Nikol Pashinyan once again congratulated everyone and wished them success in the other Prime Minister's Cup tournaments, emphasizing that a volleyball tournament is also planned for schoolchildren. The Prime Minister noted that although the Prime Minister's Cup started with a running tournament, the opportunities created in schools within the framework of the "300 Schools" program allow for volleyball and basketball tournaments to be held as well, and in the future, a swimming tournament.
