Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan visited the History Museum of Armenia, where he got acquainted with the exhibits presented at the international exhibition “Sacred Dialogue: From the Louvre to the History Museum of Armenia”.
The opening of the exhibition was also attended by the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, the Mayor of Yerevan Tigran Avinyan, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Janna Andreasyan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to the Republic of Armenia Olivier Decottignies, the President-Director of the Louvre Museum Laurence des Cars and the Director of the History Museum of Armenia Davit Poghosyan.
The exhibition opened on the Independence Day of the Republic of Armenia, in cooperation with the History Museum of Armenia and the Louvre Museum in Paris, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
Sixteen remarkable Eastern Christian masterpieces from the Louvre Museum collection are exhibited in a dialogue format with a specially selected selection from the rich collections of the History Museum of Armenia. Masterpieces spanning the 4th to the 19th centuries are presented: samples of glass and woodwork, stone sculptures - khachkars, architectural fragments, exceptional jewelry works, as well as church vestments, curtains, tableware and icons.
The joint exhibition of the two collections aims to highlight the full richness and diversity of the centuries-old artistic heritage of Armenia and the Christian East. According to the organizers, the exhibition will mark the beginning of a new format of cooperation between the History Museum of Armenia and the Louvre Museum, based on the memorandum signed between the two institutions last year.
The exhibition will be open until March 21, 2026.
