Draft framework strategy for the development of a green, sustainable and circular economy discussed under the leadership of the Prime Minister

A consultation was held under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the draft framework strategy for the development of a green, sustainable and circular economy and the resulting action plan were discussed.

Details were presented on the legal framework for the development of the draft strategy, main sectoral directions, targets for the implementation of the strategy, general and sectoral goals, actions and expected results. It was emphasized that measures are planned to be implemented in energy, transport, agriculture, urban development, production, industry, services and other areas.

It is expected that the strategy will contribute to the sustainable development of the economy, the efficient use of natural resources, increasing the share of resource-saving sectors of the economy, increasing the number of green jobs, encouraging green public and private investments, increasing productivity and competitiveness, etc. The introduction of a taxonomy - a classification system for green, transitional and enabling programs and measures - and mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating (measuring) the transition to a green economy was noted within the framework of general objectives and actions.

The participants of the meeting exchanged views on the guidelines and priorities proposed by the draft.

Measures to encourage the use of electric vehicles were also discussed, details were presented on the framework of medium-term regulations.
Summing up the discussions, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the measures being targeted, contributing to the policy implemented in the sector, and gave instructions on further actions.
