Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation led by UK Minister of State for Defence Lord Vernon Coaker.
The Prime Minister welcomed Lord Coaker’s visit to our country and highlighted the fact of the active dialogue and cooperation between Armenia and the United Kingdom in recent times. Nikol Pashinyan noted that a broad agenda has been formed in bilateral relations, which relates to various sectors and directions. The Prime Minister added that the Armenian Government attaches importance to high-level mutual visits, which give a new impetus to the consistent expansion of ties.
Vernon Coaker expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized that raising relations with Armenia to the level of strategic partnership will give a new impetus to multi-sectoral ties and the implementation of joint programs. The UK Minister of State for Defence expressed satisfaction with the discussions already held with his Armenian colleagues and noted the readiness to continue a close dialogue with the aim of expanding and developing cooperation.
The interlocutors emphasized the importance of implementing joint programs, including in the fields of military education and cybersecurity.
Nikol Pashinyan and Vernon Coaker also touched upon issues of regional importance. In particular, Vernon Coaker emphasized the United Kingdom’s support for strengthening the already established peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, expressing confidence that it will contribute to stability and promoting cooperation in the region.
The sides exchanged views on the TRIPP and “Crossroads of Peace” projects. Prime Minister Pashinyan noted that the Armenian Government is interested in unblocking regional communication channels within the framework of the principles enshrined in the declaration signed in Washington on August 8 and attracting international investments for this purpose.
