Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the final round of the Schoolchildren's Volleyball League, held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, which took place at the sports complex under the jurisdiction of the Sports Management Center.
The volleyball league was held in 3 stages: community, regional and the final round, among schoolchildren of two age groups: 6-7th grades (students born in 2013-2014), 8-9th grades (students born in 2011-2012). 5,067 students from 443 schools participated in the community round of the tournament.
The 9 members of each age group team that won the volleyball league championship and the physical education teacher were awarded certificates, cups, medals, and cash prizes from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of improving the school's sports infrastructure or purchasing sports equipment.
The school that took first place in each age group was awarded 4 million drams, 2nd place - 2.5 million drams and 3rd place - 1.5 million drams. The school teachers were also awarded: 1st place - 700 thousand drams, 2nd place - 500 thousand drams and 3rd place - 300 thousand drams. The students of the winning teams of the tournament in each age group were awarded with monetary prizes: 1st place - 9 students - 150 thousand drams each, 2nd place - 9 students - 100 thousand drams each, 3rd place - 9 students - 75 thousand drams each.
In the final round, Yerevan Primary School No. 177 took 1st place, Norashen Secondary School of Ararat Region took 2nd place, Lusakunk Secondary School of Gegharkunik Region took 3rd place, in the 2nd age group, Yerevan Primary School No. 177 took 1st place, Norashen Secondary School of Ararat Region took 2nd place, Arazap Secondary School of Armavir Region took 3rd place.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan presented the awards to the winning teams.
After the award ceremony, the Prime Minister made a speech, congratulating everyone on holding the first volleyball league tournament. In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan touched upon the concerns of holding a volleyball league in the absence of sufficient infrastructure and noted that today's tournament, with its atmosphere, the emotions of those present, and the game quality, showed that, nevertheless, the traditions of volleyball have been preserved and the decision was correct.
Next, the Head of Government touched upon the idea of the "Prime Minister's Cup", emphasizing that six tournaments are already being held now and these tournaments will be continuous. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that within the framework of the "300 Schools, 500 Kindergartens" program, the Government is doing everything possible to ensure that all schools under construction have the necessary sports infrastructure and ensure an equal level of access.
The Prime Minister once again congratulated everyone on the occasion of the tournament, as well as thanked them for preserving the traditions of volleyball.
