Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, together with the President of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan and a group of citizens of the Republic of Armenia, visited the settlement of Kirants in the Tavush region.
The citizens were first presented with the defense capabilities acquired in recent years, visited defense engineering structures. Then they visited the Kirants section of the demarcated state border between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, where the work carried out was presented.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the purpose of today’s visit is to present the Government’s vision of ensuring Armenia’s security. The Prime Minister emphasized that our border guard service in this section carries out service without a helmet, without a body armor, the same is true for the Azerbaijani side. According to the Prime Minister, the reason for this is legitimacy. “I know that I am in a place where no one in the world disputes our right to be there. Now the first component of our security is this wall. When this wall was not there, was Kirants safer or more dangerous? Of course, it was more dangerous. Let me give a simple example: before the demarcation, there were 90 houses in Kirants, today 60 houses have been built or are being built here under the Government's 16 million program," Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that this means that people see and feel that this environment is safe, that peace is real.
The Prime Minister emphasized that this is a very important, essential nuance for understanding the so-called “narrative of the elites” and the people living on the ground, who live their lives. “Now there is no need for guessing, this is reality and this is Real Armenia. That is also important, why are we coming to Kirants? To show what we mean by Real Armenia, the first component of Real Armenia is legitimacy.”
Next, during a tour of the newly built Kirants G. Vardanyan primary school, the members of the group got acquainted with the conditions created in the school, which has been in operation for a year. The Government had allocated 737 million drams for the project. The school is designed for 100 children, and a preschool for 20 children is operating.
Nikol Pashinyan also visited the Kirants Holy Trinity Church with the citizens, for the restoration of which 55 million drams were allocated from the state budget. The restoration works are in the final stage.
