A discussion was held in the Government headed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the draft Strategic Program for the Development of the Science Sector for 2026-2030. The meeting also touched upon the priorities of the science and technology sector.
Sargis Hayotsyan, Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education and Science of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, first touched upon the assessment criteria for the science sector, general indicators, schemes for the operation of the research and development system, and harmonization with other programs. Next, details were presented on the vision and goals of the program, the result framework, and the priorities of the science sector. The draft strategy envisages promoting research excellence, increasing economic impact, increasing, restructuring, and advancing social responsibility.
The participants of the meeting discussed issues related to the formation of a competitive scientific and scientific-technical system and measures aimed at developing research infrastructure.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the effective implementation of state policy aimed at developing scientific capabilities and the implementation of programs outlined in that direction.
