Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, accompanied by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, visited the Center for Drug and Medical Technology Expertise, got acquainted with the activities of the center, and the improved conditions.
The Director of the Center, Arayik Baghryan, presented the renovation works carried out with the funds allocated by the Government. It was noted that in 2024 the Government allocated 680 million drams for the renovation of the building and the acquisition of office equipment. An area of about 3,300 square meters was renovated and new office equipment was acquired.
Next, the Prime Minister got acquainted with the improved services of the center's laboratory. In 2023 the Government allocated 595 million drams for the acquisition of laboratory property and equipment. It was noted that the funds provided were used to purchase about 20 new pieces of equipment manufactured in 2023 by Agilent Technologies, Anton-Paar, Sartorius and other leading companies, chemically stable laboratory furniture, as well as the only positive pressure isolator in Armenia.
In addition, an electronic device management system was acquired, which had not been available in Armenia before. It allows to monitor issues related to equipment maintenance and care, calculate the working hours of the devices and the investment and current maintenance costs associated with the devices. The re-equipment has made it possible to improve the quality of laboratory services and reduce time.
Currently, the laboratory has a certificate issued by the American ANAB accreditation body. After the re-equipment, the laboratory will have opportunities to participate in national and international research projects, such as, for example, WHO pre-qualification.
