The Prime Minister receives newly appointed Iranian Ambassador to Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Khalil Shirgolami.

The Prime Minister congratulated the latter on assuming the post of Ambassador and attached importance to the consistent development of relations with Iran. Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that there is an unprecedented dynamic in Armenia-Iran relations, which is also due to the fact that the two countries are connected by natural interests. The Prime MInister expressed hope that during Khalil Shirgolami’s activities, the sides will be able to further deepen and expand cooperation in all areas.

The Ambassador thanked for the hospitality and conveyed to the Prime Minister the warm greetings of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Khalil Shirgolami emphasized the fact of centuries-old close ties between the two peoples, on which the high level of mutual trust between Armenia and Iran is based. According to the Ambassador, Iran welcomes the peace-oriented policy of the Armenian Prime Minister, which contributes to the development and progress of the region. Khalil Shirgolami emphasized that a developed Armenia is outlined in the basis of Iran's strategic policy and they are guided by this principle.

Next, the interlocutors discussed issues related to Armenia-Iran cooperation in various fields, touched upon the progress of joint programs. In the context of unblocking regional communication routes and promoting trade and economic relations, the parties emphasized the importance of steps aimed at ensuring railway communication between the two countries, which can become part of establishing broader ties.
