The Prime Minister receives European Commission Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received a delegation led by the European Commission Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert-Jan Koopman.

The Prime Minister welcomed the delegation’s visit to Armenia and stressed the importance of the continued deepening of Armenia-European Union cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan highly appreciated the European Union’s consistent support for Armenia in strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, economic development and public administration system reforms.

Gert-Jan Koopman reaffirmed the European Commission’s readiness to continue supporting the reforms in Armenia and highlighted the progress made in expanding the EU-Armenia partnership. He highlighted the importance of developing cooperation in the areas of economic resilience, digitalization and infrastructure development.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current Armenia-EU cooperation programs, as well as future initiatives aimed at expanding economic opportunities, improving the investment climate, and strengthening regional stability.

Regional developments and the peace agenda were also touched upon. Prime Minister Pashinyan presented the positions of the Government of Armenia aimed at establishing sustainable and lasting peace in the region.

The parties reaffirmed their mutual willingness to continue close cooperation.
