Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the event dedicated to the Day of the Diplomatic Service Employee.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and all diplomats on the occasion of the professional day, thanked them for their service and emphasized that it is extremely important to realize the role and significance of diplomacy and the diplomatic service in the development of our country. According to Nikol Pashinyan, we should pay more attention to the role of diplomacy and the diplomatic service in the security and normal development of the country, because when we say security, we usually always understand the army. “But later we realized that the more we associate security with the army, the more it means there is a lack of security or the more it means the security situation or condition is not good, and on the contrary, the more we mean soft factors when we say security, as is commonly said, it means there is a more reliable level of security.”
In his speech, Nikol Pashinyan noted that recognizing the world, processes, ongoing changes, and the causal relationship of events allows us to make the environment more predictable and manageable. "And in this regard, of course, the situation that we have today in Armenia in terms of the foreign policy environment, I think, is quite tangible and a great achievement. But we must also not forget, ultimately, the most important goal of our diplomatic activity, our activity in the field of foreign relations. That goal is the state interest of our country, namely, to ensure the economic development of our country, because that is also a problem when we are so focused on security, which, of course, is a vital necessity, but the more immediate our anxiety and our need for security is, the more it means that we are simply far from the logic of economic development," the Prime Minister noted.
In this context, Nikol Pashinyan added: "It should be noted that the processes of recent years and what we are talking about publicly clearly indicate a change in the perspective of the situation, when in the region, including when talking about the peace process with Azerbaijan, we say that it seems that the economy is overtaking political processes, which is definitely positive. This means that our diplomatic efforts are more focused on the logic of economic development. The more we are focused on the logic of economic development, the further we are away from the logic and framework of pure tension and escalation."
In his speech, the Prime Minister also spoke about the peace achieved over the years: “It is very important that we appreciate the peace that we have. It is very important that we appreciate the lifting of the blockade around Armenia that we have.” The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia’s economic development is more than was predicted, including thanks to diplomatic activity. “We must be able to protect these achievements, because I think that we have truly reached a point where we can protect ourselves from storms, hail, and many geopolitical disasters. But we should not take this for granted. This is the result of work, the result of consistent and conscious work.”
According to Nikol Pashinyan, continuing education is extremely important in preserving and further developing achievements. "I am convinced that our diplomatic service has the capabilities to care for, protect, preserve and develop its own and the Republic of Armenia's achievements, because one of the most important tools for preserving and protecting is development, because if any achievement does not receive further development towards becoming something greater and more important, it will definitely lose its current significance.
I am convinced that we will move forward with this logic, with the awareness that in a changing world we ourselves must change the scope of our horizons. We must be able to look at the world from a higher perspective, and in order to look from a higher perspective, we must be able to rise, and the way to rise is unequivocal and undoubted: education, continuous education.”
Summing up his speech, the Prime Minister noted that today we are on the path of learning more, because it means an objective, not just an emotional, but practical opportunity to do more for our homeland, the Republic of Armenia. “I thank all diplomats for their willingness to do more for our country, the Republic of Armenia, and for their daily work,” the Prime Minister concluded.
Next, the inauguration ceremony of diplomats appointed to the diplomatic service took place, within the framework of which a number of diplomats received diplomatic certificates from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
