Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted the delegation led by the President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkėvičs, who arrived in Armenia on an official visit.

Prime Minister Pashinyan welcomed the visit of the delegation led by the President of Latvia to Armenia. “First of all, I would like to thank you and Latvia for supporting our candidacy to host the European Political Community Summit, and it was truly a historic event for Armenia. The first Armenia-EU Summit also took place, which was also very important. And of course, we see and feel Latvia’s growing support for our democracy, reform agenda, and deepening our cooperation with the EU,” the Prime Minister said. Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia highly appreciates all of this, and emphasized that Edgars Rinkėvičs’ visit is another bold manifestation of deepening bilateral and multilateral relations.

The Latvian President thanked for the warm hospitality and added that he had arrived in Armenia as the Minister of Foreign Affairs back in 2015. “But I was surprised when I learned that this is the first visit at the presidential level since 2009, that is, after 17 years. Let me say that we see Armenia as a very good friend and partner, both in terms of bilateral cooperation and within the framework of the Armenia-EU partnership. We welcome your decision to take the European path, and of course, you can fully count on us,” said Edgars Rinkėvičs and conveyed the warm greetings of the Latvian Prime Minister to Nikol Pashinyan.

The interlocutors discussed the development of trade and economic ties, issues related to the expansion of cooperation in various fields, including tourism and education.
The development of Armenia-European relations was touched upon. In this regard, both sides emphasized the importance of holding the first Armenia-EU summit and the progress made towards visa liberalization. The President of Latvia expressed his country's support for the visa liberalization process and expressed confidence that it will also contribute to the expansion of bilateral tourism ties.

They also exchanged views on the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other issues of regional importance.
