Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted about thirty teachers from various schools in Yerevan and the regions at the Government building.
Nikol Pashinyan welcomed the attendees and congratulated all teachers on Teachers' Day, expressing gratitude for their daily dedicated work.
According to the Prime Minister, such meetings are important as they provide an opportunity to hear directly about issues in the sector.
In his remarks, Nikol Pashinyan also addressed the results of the voluntary teacher certification system, which enables teachers to increase their salaries and receive bonuses. The Prime Minister emphasized plans to make the certification process periodic and to further raise the pay rates. "This decision is not only about expressing our appreciation for your work; there is also a very important issue at stake: the teaching profession needs to be made more attractive to young people. I believe that this certification system should be periodic."
Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, extended her congratulations on the occasion of Teachers' Day and expressed gratitude for the work dedicated to the development of numerous children. In her remarks, the Minister highlighted a key legislative initiative within the Government's new program—the law on the status of teachers—which places special emphasis on housing support. According to the Minister, this will serve as an additional mechanism enabling both current teachers and young people choosing this profession to feel more secure.
The meeting also addressed issues regarding the continuous development of professional skills, the improvement of school infrastructure, and the provision of a proper educational environment.
The teachers expressed their gratitude for the various programs implemented by the Government in recent years and for the ongoing reforms in the education sector.
