Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the official opening of the first working day of the Third Global Armenian Summit at the "Meridian" Exhibition and Event Center.

The Prime Minister welcomed the summit participants and presented the ideology of "Real Armenia." Nikol Pashinyan noted that the ideology of "Real Armenia" centers on the state: "The ideology of 'Real Armenia' posits that the state is the most important thing we, as a people, can possess. There is nothing more important than the state; all our efforts, actions, goals, and visions are, and must remain, linked to the state—the Republic of Armenia—as well as to its interests and the vision of its enduring existence." Nikol Pashinyan has presented a vision for the enduring nature of the state: the state must be developed and transformed into an instrument of security, prosperity, and freedom for its citizens—an instrument to be passed down from generation to generation.

Addressing criticisms regarding the ideology, the country’s leader emphasized: "We always listen to such criticisms and try to respond to them, viewing this process as an important test for the very ideology of 'Real Armenia.' If an ideology is prepared and able to answer questions, it is viable; however, if there are questions it cannot address—and if such questions fail to emerge or be articulated in the future—it suggests there is an issue regarding the viability of that ideology."

Regarding the criticism that the purpose of this ideology is to distort our identity, Nikol Pashinyan noted: "Not only do we disagree with that characterization, but on the contrary, we are convinced that the ideology of 'Real Armenia' is precisely about protecting, preserving, and developing our identity. The ideology of 'Real Armenia' posits that our state is our identity, and conversely, that our identity is our state."

According to the Prime Minister, we should perceive our state as our homeland, and consider our homeland to be our state. According to him, this is the optimal model to guide us toward the best possible state. The Prime Minister stated that the ideology of "Real Armenia" is anchored in the internationally recognized territory of the Republic of Armenia, which spans 29,743 square kilometers.

Summing up, Nikol Pashinyan addressed the question of what the Republic of Armenia can offer the Diaspora: "The Republic of Armenia can offer the Diaspora only one thing—itself. The Republic of Armenia offers itself to the Diaspora as a homeland—a state with all its attributes. This homeland offers the Diaspora love, but also respect; respect, but also love. And this is why we say: a citizen must love the homeland, a citizen must love the state, and the state must love the citizen.

Today, the Republic of Armenia is redefining its relations with the Diaspora, and I am pleased to note that in recent years we have established, and continue to develop, a new institution: the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. Furthermore, as you know, we now have over a dozen Commissioners for Diaspora Affairs in various communities. Their role, as we conceive it, is to represent the Republic of Armenia in its relations with the Diaspora, and to convey the messages of the Diaspora back to the Republic of Armenia. I am confident that this system accurately reflects the relationship between the homeland and the state. Welcome to the Republic of Armenia."

The Head of Government also answered questions from those present.

Initiated by the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the summit, taking place from November 5 to 8, brings together 800 participants, 600 of whom are from the Diaspora and 200 from Armenia. The summit aims to address key issues on the Armenia-Diaspora agenda, expand multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and the Diaspora, engage the Diaspora’s potential in Armenia’s development processes, and create new opportunities for collaboration aligned with the state priorities of the Republic of Armenia. The four-day summit agenda features panel discussions, roundtables, and breakout sessions, a "Global Armenian Expo," and presentations covering topics such as democracy, security, education, science, artificial intelligence, investments, philanthropy, culture, and various other fields.
