Today, the regular Cabinet meeting was held, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

By the decision of the Government, it is proposed to allocate about 5 billion 365 million 640 thousand drams from the reserve fund to state support programs implemented by the Ministry of Economy. As a result, an opportunity will be created to cover the expenses of June and July for compensation incurred by economic entities for the export of fruit (apricots, plums, cherries, strawberries, peaches, nectarines), vegetables (tomatoes, peppers), flowers, bottled natural mineral water, bottled grape and fruit wine, bottled Armenian brandy or Armenian cognac, dried fruits or vegetables, and trout and sturgeon fish.

The organizational work related to the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 17) is being carried out entirely in accordance with the host country agreement signed between the Republic of Armenia and the UN. The total amount of the agreements submitted by the decision amounted to about 2 billion 640 million drams.

Before presenting the issue, Minister of Environment Hambardzum Matevosyan noted: “Since the COP17 conference is about two months away, before reporting on the issue itself, allow me to briefly touch upon its significance. In October 2026, Armenia will host one of the most important events on the global environmental agenda, the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, COP17. Representatives of 196 Parties to the Convention and tens of thousands of participants from around the world will participate in the conference. COP17 will be preceded by the Leaders’ Summit with high-level participation of heads of state, government and international organizations, within the framework of which it is planned to adopt the Yerevan Declaration entitled “For the Sustainability of Life on Earth”.

COP17 is also of particular importance in that the first global assessment of progress in the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework will be held in Armenia.

This is a unique opportunity for Armenia to strengthen our country’s role in international environmental processes and present Armenia’s environmental agenda and rich biodiversity to the world.”

Responding, Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the importance of holding COP17 at a proper level and emphasized that it is a good opportunity to further increase Armenia’s international visibility and recognition. According to the Prime Minister, 10,000-15,000 participants are expected to attend the event.

By Government decisions, Eduard Hakobyan was reappointed as Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Yeghiazar Vardanyan as Chairman of the Urban Development Committee, Suren Tovmasyan as Head of the Cadastre Committee.

By Government decisions, Robert Ghukasyan was reappointed as Governor of Syunik, Vahagn Arsenyan as Governor of Vayots Dzor, Sedrak Tevonyan as Governor of Ararat, Sergey Movsisyan as Governor of Aragatsotn, Vahram Khachatryan as Governor of Armavir, Hayk Ghalumyan as Governor of Tavush, Karen Sargsyan as Governor of Shirak, Aren Mkrtchyan as Governor of Lori.

Nikol Pashinyan thanked the officials for the work done in the previous period and wished them success in their upcoming activities.

The Prime Minister touched upon the reforms implemented in a number of areas and the planned work.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that we need to focus again on all the agendas that existed before 2020. "To put it briefly, the entire agenda of the revolution is on the table today with the same urgency as it was in 2018. There are two reasons for this, the first is that we have an objective opportunity to focus on things thanks to the established peace, the second is the elections, and the mandate given by the people in the elections and its reaffirmation," said Nikol Pashinyan.
