Statements and messages of the Prime Minister of RA
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s message on the occasion of May 9
Dear people, dear citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
Today we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union and the Western Allies in World War II. That war broke out due to the Nazi (fascist) ideology established in Germany and several other allied countries, the key content of which was that one nation or one group of nations is superior to another or others. And many nations and states of the world came together to prove the opposite and won.
The Armenian people also contributed to that victory, in the armies of the Soviet Union, the Western Allies, and in underground resistance groups. Today we pay tribute to all of our compatriots. On this day, the world also faces the dangers of Nazism, fascism, totalitarianism and all its manifestations, which are contrary to the freedom and happiness of the individual, the people, and the state, and whose key goal is to dominate, incite wars, and restrict freedoms.
The Republic of Armenia is going down a different path: freedom, democracy, peace. This is not an easy path at all, but it is a path worth taking, and to take that path completely and reach an irreversible destination, one needs conviction, faith, prudence, and consistency. To take that path, one needs bold, sincere, and complete self-reflection, the ability to read and learn one’s own history, and to read and perceive the messages addressed to us from our history.
I have devoted a significant part of my activity in recent years to discussions with the citizens of the Republic of Armenia about the ideology of Real Armenia. This is an extremely important process. The ideology of the Real Armenia is the result of reading and rereading our history, the ideology of the Real Armenia is the result of reading the messages addressed to us by Historical Armenia, which tells us: do not follow my path, but focus on the issue of building freedom, happiness, and prosperity in the country of our dreams, the Republic of Armenia, and passing that happy state on from generation to generation. Today, we have that opportunity and we are obliged to realize that opportunity.
Today we also have the opportunity to make our contribution to the peaceful and prosperous future of our region. The draft Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been agreed upon and is awaiting signing, and we will follow that path. Our region has earned the right to live in peace and prosperity, and so it should be.
Despite all internal and external provocations, there will be no war between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, there will be peace.
Glory to the martyrs and long live the Republic of Armenia.
